So, remember the ice on the road? Well, my neighbor was apparently as good as her word, because I came home to construction (four trucks, and an mini-excavator), just uphill from my parking spot. They have the lights out and are still working. They dug up two sections of road, and the mini-excavator was still digging out the mud when I parked. Anyway, I'm amazed at the efficiency of Komaki city, and hopeful that the ice will not be there tomorrow morning.

Many of you know that I was considering staying here for another year. Well, I sent in the paperwork today. Despite all of the things I love about living in San Diego, I still have things I want to do here. Professionally and otherwise. And there's the incentive of being able to completely pay off my loans if I stay another year. Plus a nice raise.

The downside is that I have to stay here, away from my chosen family there. I have friends here, but it's not the same. Perhaps they will become family in the coming months, but it seems unlikely. The other down side is that I'll have to get a Japanese Driver's License. And since the US makes them take the test there, I have to take their test here. *groan* It's apparently a real hoopfest, and I'm not looking forward to it. Wish me luck. I might come home in early April if I can get the DL taken care of. Otherwise, it looks like August will be my next trip.
