Dakara, Anata mo ikinuite. by Hirata Mitsuyo
Story of a middle school dropout, and how she became a lawyer after leaving her Yakuza husband. Good story, but I was just happy that I could read it.

Thank you. The trick is finding books that have furigana (Kanji readings). In the case of this author, she wanted her book to be accessible to younger and uneducated readers, so she has furigana throughout the book. Of course, I don't recommend it until you have 1,000 kanji or so under your belt.
