Surprisingly interesting concert
Oct. 23rd, 2003 01:48 pmI haven't really told people about the upcoming Porgy & Bess concert (Fri and Sat nights) because I wasn't particularly excited about it. After meeting the conductor last night, that has changed.
The concert is all about the sociological circumstances in which Porgy and Bess was written and originally performed. The first half is going to be a bunch of short bits about the African American reaction and stories of different productions (e.g. during WWII). Then, we'll perform the concert version of the opera for the second act. I'm really looking forward to this :D
