I've seen this a few times now, and although it didn't make sense the first time, once I figured it ou, I thought you all would enjoy the bizarreness that is marketing in Japan.

So, there's three guys that look kind of gay (They're Japanese, of course), and they have eye makeup, and huge light brown mohawks (honestly, it just looks like hand fans coming out of their heads. They sing a song with little expression, and their hair separates into two fans (now looking like a large brown butterfly has landed on each of their heads) and comes together with a clack during the song.

That's what I noticed the first time. Bizarre. But it gets better.

When I listened, I noticed the song was "If you're happy and you know it clap your hands" in Japanese, and the hair clacking was happening right where you would clap your hands. Finally, I realized that they had replaced the word for hands with hair (te -> ke).

edit: I was just talking to a co-worker about this commercial, and she said it's an ad for a hair coloring product, and that each of the men has a different hair color.

That truly is bizarre. But cute! Have you decided on whether to go with the homestay?

Yes, I called and told her no today. She said that if I ever change my mind to please call her.
