I've been busy with school and trying to get my computer up, mostly. Last week was mostly national holidays, so at least I had plenty of time to futz with it. Yes, that's right, May 3, 4, and 5 are national holidays in Japan. It's called Golden week, and many people use the time to get together with family. 5/5 is children's day, but it's really for boys-- girls day is on 3/3. Many pictures of cute 3,5, and 7 year olds dressed in Japanese armor and such on TV. I still don't know many people so I spent a good bit of time at home (I was also not feeling well).

I'm actually still not feeling well. I don't really know what's going on, but my throat has been sore off and on for over a week, and while I don't feel like sleeping all day like I did last weekend, when I wake up and when I go to sleep I don't feel very well. I'm kind of worried about it. Particularly since I seem to be getting low grade fevers as well. I'm not really interested in seeing a doctor, but if the throat soreness in particular doesn't go away, I will.

In other news, I've had a very busy weekend this weekend, and managed to book the next two weekends. I'll be volunteering at the registration for the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan/Nagoya International School walkathon next Sunday. I figure it'l be a good opportunity to use my language skills. On Saturday, I have rehearsal, and this English workshop thing I picked up. I get money and lunch! yeay :)

So, after spending most of the weekend in the house because I wasn't feeling well, I decided to go walking. This was last Monday, and I seem to have caught a bit of a walking bug. Monday I walked out and just went around exploring to the local green looking place (which turned out to be a rather forlorn looking shrine), and was probably walking for 45 minutes or so at a leisurely pace. Then Tuesday I just did the average 12 minute walk each way to the station plus the getting around to travel the stations and such in Nagoya. Wednesday, I decided I wanted to go up to Inuyama, which has some nice parkland and trails and such. I walked for about 30 minutes with Peter up there, then decided to see how far I could make it to travel home. I walked for about two hours before I decided to give up.

Thursday there was normal walking, then Friday, I played soccer for about an hour and a half of the two hour practice (I'm coaching at Komaki ES). After that, I got home and decided that I would walk to Komakihara (next station) for dinner with a friend. That was about 25 minutes at a brisk pace from my house, and then we made our way to Komaki station after dinner (another 30 minutes, slowly). Yesterday, I walked to the station and went into Nagoya, then spent over an hour walking with a long-legged Australian to buy him a computer. After that, I got lost on my way to choir and walked about 20 minutes. Today was light, just walking to the station, around Nagoya and to the supermarket.

You know, if I don't lose weight, I'm going to be surprised, and a little annoyed. I don't know what my weight is now though. Maybe I'll weigh myself in the nurse's office tomorrow...
