San Diego Pride

I had a great pride. There were certainly difficulties, and much exhaustion, but it was really wonderful. I feel at home in San Diego, and especially at Pride.
It started on Saturday, with volunteering for Crew Central. This was my third year volunteering with Miss P, and my first as a supervisor. I helped check in people at the parade, drove a big van over to the festival, and then settled in making various signs and documents for the rest of the day. They have asked me back to do more admin and organizational work, and that makes me happy. I was there for 12 hours, and my brain died, so I went home.
Sunday, I got to PLAY!! It was really great. I hung out at the leather realm, and at the Women's Chorus tent. I got to see the Impact play workshop. I sang with the women's chorus, and had a few minutes to catch up with my favorite ASL interpreter in the whole world. I got a wedding invitation. I bought t-shirts (one for me that said TOMBOY, and a surprise), and a baseball cap with the leathergirl's pride colors. I hung out with some friends from LA, and they got me some beads (no, I didn't do anything other than be me).
It totally brought out my bouncy happy ellie energy, and it was much fun. I've missed that Ellie. I've been very focused lately. And while focus is good, I need to have fun, and invite that part out. It makes life better.
Walking around, I saw many people I knew, and I felt a part of. I am a contributing member of my various communities, and I'm proud of myself. Wearing my "TOMBOY" shirt, and my "girl" cap, I felt free. I'm looking forward to this weekend when I will go and be with my family and be free in a completely different way. I will have lots of time to sit, and 'be'. I am not in service to anyone but spirit. And I know that this is exactly where I need to be, even with the challenges it presents.
